Circumcision (removal of the foreskin)

In a circumcision, the foreskin is removed under local anaesthesia or brief general anaesthesia. The most common reason is recurrent infections in the case of a constriction of the foreskin (phimosis). This procedure is generally performed on an outpatient basis. If this procedure is medically necessary, the costs will be covered by health insurance. If the procedure is done for cosmetic or religious reasons, the costs must generally be covered by the patients.
