Cystoscopy

Cytoscopy is used to diagnose various diseases of the urethra and bladder. A cystoscope is inserted into the bladder via the urethra.

Using this instrument, the entire interior of the urethra and urinary bladder can be observed and evaluated via fibre optics. There are various types of cystoscopes. Depending on the situation, we use both rigid and flexible instruments. As part of the examination, the area is locally disinfected, and the urethra is anaesthetised with a gel. The inspection can then be carried out without any problems. While this procedure is not particularly pleasant, it is also not painful, and is performed on an outpatient basis.
