Medicinal testicular tumour treatment

The testicular tumour must be surgically removed. For certain types and stages of tumour, additional drug therapy is indicated.

The staging is primarily orientated around the spread of the tumour (CT findings) and the results of blood tests before surgery. The tumour tissue is also used for improved staging. If all of this information is available, the best treatment strategy will be discussed in the interdisciplinary tumour board and documented in a report.

In certain stages, radiotherapy is another possible treatment option. However, if additional treatment is necessary, 6–12 weeks of chemotherapy is usually recommended. These chemotherapies are well established, and a great deal of experience has been gained. If you require chemotherapy, you should consult an oncologist concerning the execution and any side effects.
