Removal of the epididymis (epididymectomy) in the case of hydrocele
Here, the epididymis is surgically removed; the testicle remains in the external genitals.
Afterwards, the recurrence of hydrocele is extremely rare. If family planning is not yet complete, the epididymis should be left because this would be equivalent to a unilateral ligation. In this case, reduction of the testicular capsule is recommended.
