TUR of bladder tumours (TURBT)

Bladder tumours are usually successfully removed via transurethral resection (TUR)

As is the case with transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), the tumour is cut away using a cytoscopic method involving a high-frequency current. After the procedure, an indwelling catheter must be inserted for 1–5 days, depending on the size and extent of the tumour. A second treatment after 3–4 weeks increases the radical nature of the operation and thus the safety of the patient.
