As is the case with transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), the tumour is cut away using a cytoscopic method involving a high-frequency current. After the procedure, an indwelling catheter must be inserted for 1–5 days, depending on the size and extent of the tumour. A second treatment after 3–4 weeks increases the radical nature of the operation and thus the safety of the patient.
