TVT tape in women

The 1-cm-wide transvaginal tape (TVT) is placed under the urethra via a small incision in the vagina and two small stab incisions in the groin. The urethra is supported like in a hammock and can no longer fall when it is placed under pressure (e.g. by sneezing, coughing, or jumping).

The tape replaces the defective ligament structures; urinary continence is physiologically restored. The success rate of this operation is 84%, which is particularly high in medicine. The tape is made of polypropylene, a plastic which is very well tolerated by the body. The tape is surrounded by the body's own tissue.
